Ryan's teams run in Ipswich Ekiden

The Ekiden is a relay race for teams of six, unique to Ipswich. Teams are required to run the marathon distance of 26.2 miles as a relay.

The event is an annual fundraiser for the St Elizabeth’s Hospice, Ipswich. This year the race was sponsored and organised by our Operations Director, Robin Belsom.

This year’s race took place in the grounds of St Josephs College, Ipswich and included a record entry of 60 teams. It is well supported by running clubs from all over East Anglia as well as over 20 teams from the local community.

The race winners were Ipswich Harriers who completed the course in 2 hrs 23 mins 48 secs.

Ryan Insurance Group entered two teams. The Ryan A Team led by Tim Larke, finished in 37th position overall with a time of 3hrs 25 mins 56 secs. The B team led by Dean Lushington, finished in 47th place with a time of 3 hrs 36 mins 10 secs. The fastest social team was Relatively Speaking in a time of 3hrs 1 min 30 secs.

£1200 was raised for the Hospice from entry fees with further donations being made by individual team members.
