Sixth Form Students from Leiston High School and Suffolk New College took part in a new event on Wednesday 2nd March called “Discover Risk” at Kesgrave Community Centre.

“Discover Risk” is a fun and innovative game created by the Chartered Insurance Institute and is designed to give students an awareness of how far reaching risk actually is and the impact it has on every aspect of our lives. The UK is the world’s third largest Insurance market and the game highlights that the sector isn’t just about cars, houses and holidays.

Jenni Carberry from the Suffolk Education Business Partnership organised the event in conjunction with Caspar Bartington from the CII and Ryan Insurance Group. Ryan Insurance is one of East Anglia’s leading independent insurance brokers and Jenni said, “We were very fortunate to have staff from Ryan’s including Director, Tim Larke. Tim was really supportive of the event and his colleagues that came along all represented different aspects of the business. Tim’s team were approachable and friendly and along with Caspar’s energising delivery, helped bring out the key messages of work related learning. All the students really enjoyed the event and quite a few of them have requested work experience with Ryan’s.”

Tim commented "It was a pleasure to interact with the students and dispel some of the myths of working in insurance. Our industry is a people industry which offers a wide variety of career choices; I hope that both Ryan’s and the CII have promoted insurance as a sound career choice for the students"
