| Ryan's are delighted to be sponsoring this years Ipswich Ekiden Relay on 15th July, in support of three cancer charities, Cancer Campaign in Suffolk, Cancer Research UK and MacMillan. The Ekiden is a relay race originating in Japan. Unlike the traditional track relays an Ekiden is run over a much greater distance. The Ipswich event is 2.5 km laps cumulating in 26.2 miles in total. The legs are run by teams of 6 runners with stages of 7.2k, 3 of 5 k and 2 of 10k. The race is staged in the grounds of St Josephs College in Ipswich and attracted a record entry of 101 teams in 2011, raising thousands for ABF The Soldiers Charity and the RAF Benevolent Fund. The Ekiden is a very popular annual event and attracts entries from both local businesses and the running community. Ryan’s are sponsoring the event as part of our commitment to support cancer charities. The Cancer Campaign in Suffolk in particular does a great deal to help those in our region who have been affected by cancer. We would encourage you to take part and help raise money for these very important charities.
