| Staff from Ryan Insurance have taken part in helping Suffolk students ‘Discover Risk’ for the second year running.
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) - which is the insurance sector’s professional body - delivered it's 'Discover Risk' activity at Suffolk New College on Wednesday 7th March, to provide more information on the huge range of global opportunities that exist in the industry. The interactive session demonstrated how vital it is for businesses and people to manage different levels of risk and how a career in insurance helps meet this responsibility. Students took part in an interactive game, with each team participating in a scenario-based activity where different levels of risk were explored. The problems ranged from a pop star losing their voice on tour, to piracy affecting a company’s profits. Caspar Bartington, Relationship Manager at CII thought the event was a great technique to link education to the world of work. “The 'Discover Risk' activity was a good way for young people to understand more about what’s on offer in the risk and insurance profession. Caspar said “We want them to develop important skills such a teamwork, influence, negotiation and communication. We’re convinced that through these sessions we’re starting to identify some of our profession’s future stars.” Tim Larke and his team from Ryan Insurance were on hand to support the event which ran in conjunction with the Suffolk Education Business Partnership (EBP); an organisation that works with schools, businesses and the community to enrich the national curriculum.
